Typical current waveforms of a current doubler for which the DC offset is relatively high. The RMS values of the inductor currents are roughly half of the total rectified current (D1+D2), so the ripple is low. The advantage of the current doubler is therefore fully utilised, because both inductors can be rated with half of the output current.
