Typical current waveforms of a current doubler for which the DC offset is low. The RMS values of the inductor currents are relatively high (as compared to the total rectified current D1+D2) due to the high ripple. The advantage of the current doubler is therefore lost. Nevertheless, the output current ripple is smaller than each of the inductor current ripple.
The waveforms are generated with LTspice.
