Squirrel cage rotor - a type of rotor used typically in induction machines (motors and generators).
The rotor winding is made as a “cage” of bars shorted at each end. Difference in speed between rotation of the magnetic field of the stator, and the mechanical speed of the rotor (slip) induces electric currents in the bars and produces torque.
