Positive direction for circulation of a vector around the path C is also defined with the right-hand rule.

The positive direction of the unit vector $\hat{n}$ normal to the surface $a$ is as indicated by the thumb, and the curled fingers indicate in which direction the integral should be taken around the path $C$.
