Magnetic field strength H around a straight conductor, shown in a cross-section view - the amplitude of H increases linearly with the amount of enclosed current and reduces with distance from the conductor surface, and hence the flux density B is scaled by the permeability of the material (wire or the external medium).
The results were generated with the software Finite Element Method Magnetics created by Dr David Meeker. |
