Encyclopedia Magnetica™

Magnetic field strength $H$ is generated around a straight conductor with electric current $I$ (cross-sectional view is shown). With the right-hand rule the thumb shows the direction of current $I$ and all the fingers show the direction of $H$ produced by that current.
