Current transformer (CT for short, but also: current-sensing transformer1), current-sense transformer2), current sensor3), current transducer4), special transformer5), instrument transformer6), current probe) - a type of transformer for measurement, sensing or monitoring of electric current.

A current transformer is usually designed for reducing amplitude of an AC current from the primary to the secondary winding.
